The principle behind any heat and energy recovery system is to reuse the energy in the exhaust air that would otherwise be wasted, that is using cooler spill air (summer) or warmer spill air (winter) to pre-cool or pre-heat the incoming outside air.
Due to the unique design of the Air Change plate heat exchanger, very high temperature and moisture exchange efficiencies are achieved which can effectively reduce HVAC plant size and energy consumption by up to 50%, depending on prevailing climatic conditions.

The air to air heat exchanger is a passive device with no moving parts, made up from an array of hundreds of “air guiding frames”. Each frame is separated from its neighbouring frame by a “transfer media” which is either Sensible (heat only transfer) or Enthalpy (heat and moisture transfer), creating two distinctly different air paths running counterflow with each other (every “odd” frame being one air path, and every “even” frame being the other).

The “Enthalpy” (Energy Recovery) heat exchanger utilises a unique transfer media that exchanges temperature and moisture for total energy transfer. This heat exchanger is suitable for standard air conditioning applications.

The “Sensible” (Heat Recovery) type heat exchangers transfer temperature only, and are suited to dry areas or applications where moisture transfer is undesirable. They are especially suited for Indoor Swimming Pools or corrosive air applications.
